What is the Z83 Application Form?
The Z83 Application Form is used to assist a government department in selecting a person for an advertised position.

What is the purpose of the Z83 Application Form?
This form can be used to identify candidates for interviews. You must fill out all sections of this form completely, accurately and clearly. This will help in processing your application fairly.

Who should fill this form?
Only persons willing to apply for the post advertised in the department of the National or Provincial Government.

1. All information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality and will not be disclosed or used for any purpose other than to assess the suitability of an individual, except where required and permitted by law. Your personal details must match your ID or passport details.
2. Passport number in case of non-South Africans.
3. This information is necessary to enable the department to comply with the Employment Equality Act, 1998.
4. This information will be taken into account only if it is directly related to the requirements of the position.
5. The Executive Authority shall consider the criminal record against the nature of the act done in accordance with the Internal Information Security and Disciplinary Code.
6. Where the space provided is not sufficient, the applicant may submit additional information separately.
7. Departments should accept certified documents that accompany the application for verification of up to 6 months unless the advertisement stipulates a longer period.

Please Note:
The Z83 form is to be filled only for national government departments and provincial government departments. Applications to public entities, municipalities, SETA’s, TVET colleges, universities and universities of technology do not require Z83 unless otherwise stated on the job designation.

How to Use the Z83 Form and Fill It Out Correctly

As hard as it may be when applying for South African government department jobs (National and Provincial), you will need to fill out a Z83 Application Form which will be accompanied by your detailed CV and supporting documents. Many people may ask themselves why they need to fill out the Z83 form when the information required for the form is clearly stated on their CV and supporting documents. Well, the form serves as an application form for employment, which is designed to assist government departments in selecting a suitable person for the advertised role.

From 01 January 2021, the new Z83 form was introduced and has been in effect since then. Any application made with the old form will not be considered. Therefore, it is your duty as an applicant to ensure that the form you are using for your job application is the newly accepted form. You can download the form from the Department of Public Services and Administration, or you can get a copy from your nearest government department.

Effective Ways to Complete Your Z83 Application Form

First of all, read the form carefully and fill it out correctly. Make sure your writing is clear because if recruiters cannot read your handwriting, your application will be rejected. Also, remember to check spelling mistakes in the form and correct them before submitting.

Sections A, B, C and D
Make sure to properly note down the job application number mentioned in the job advertisement and the availability of the position you are applying for. Double-check your personal and contact details after filling out the form to make sure they are accurate.

Sections E, F, and G
Even if you will attach your detailed CV that includes your education, work experience and references, you will still need to fill out the information in the form.

Announcement/ Declaration
Sign and date the declaration section and remember to attach all the required documents required.

8- Each application for employment form must be duly signed and initialed by the applicant. Failure to sign this form may lead to disqualification of the application during the selection process.
